What Is Your Personal Brand?

I didn’t know exactly what “my personal brand” was. I did not understand is it me, is it something I am doing or not doing? These were just a few questions I had in the beginning.

I learned that to become an influencer with my personal brand is so much more than a flashy logo or even a color palette. It goes far beyond having a nice looking business card.

It is not about having a website with your name on it, although that is certainly part of it.

Your personal brand is the image people see. It is what you stand for, your values. The core of who you are as a person.

It is the combination of your values, unique skills, experiences, stories, personality and image. This is all presented authentically to your audience. When you do that you become an influencer with your brand.

Every person has a brand. You have a brand. I have a brand and didn’t realize it until I started to learn more of what exactly Personal Brand meant.

Everyone Is A Brand

Think about it. Everyone can put themselves in front of their audience. Everyone can add value to their audience. As their message can be communicated loud and clear. With everything you share with your audience, you are building your brand.

Back to your brand. Now the question is whether you are actively taking control of your brand.

Why You Need To Build A Personal Brand

If you are building a business of any kind, it is important to build your own personal brand. This allows you to stand out from the competition. Your competitors can not bring to your audience what you can bring. You Are Unique. There is only one of you!

Building your personal brand lets you highlight your strengths.

You bring unique value to the table. This is value no one else can offer and therefore you can charge a premium price.

You can charge a higher price because what you have is exclusive to you.

Personal branding highlights your expertise and allows you to attract your ideal audience. Your personal brand will evolve, and it does not matter if you want it to or not.

Personal branding increases your visibility, connects you more with individuals and allows you to become an influencer.

How To Build A Personal Brand

Determine who you really are.

You have to first determine who you really are. This means you have to share your authentic self.

Ask yourself:

What unique skills do I have?

What are my core values?

What am I most passionate about?

What unique experiences have shaped who I am?

How can I most effectively serve my core audience?

What do I have to offer that no one else does?

These questions are a good start to finding your brand.

Determine what you want to accomplish.

So once you have identified the core of who you are, it’s time to think about what you want to accomplish with your personal brand.

Ask yourself:

What would I like to accomplish, both personally and professionally?

What do I want to be known for?

If I could be the world’s foremost expert on a topic, what would it be?

What key message do I want to communicate?

What is the “personality” of my brand?

This is just the start of finding and figuring out who you are and what your brand will be. These are just 2 steps of your personal brand.
