Until I became an entrepreneur and brought my business online, I never really thought about having my own website. It didn’t take long for me to learn why I needed one.

This blog has some affiliate links to products that I use. This means if you would make a purchase of any of the products, I may receive a commission but there is no extra cost to you.

My Website

When I brought my business online that is when I heard the talk of having a website. That didn’t mean much to me at first. I was in a community to learn technology. My thought, I can worry about that later.

As time would have it later came. Fortunately, as I paid a lot of money for this education on technology, I was told they would build my website for me. I loved it as I didn’t have a clue where to even start.

I just did what I was told. “Deb, you need to get a domain and hosting.” They guided me on what they recommended. OK, that was taken care of.

It took a few weeks for them to get it completed. Then they gave me “the keys” and said good bye!

What wait a minute. How does it work? Silence!!

Now what do I do? Needless to say my website sat for quite awhile. Then I found a mentor that is what I did. She helped me learn how to access my site. She also helped me maneuver a little bit around it. I was like a robot though. I did very little without her being there. I was scared to death of this website. I didn’t want to break it as I didn’t know how to fix it!

Especially the scariest part was creating things like a Thank You page. I had to do it in Thrive Themes. This was like the blind leading the blind. I still didn’t know enough, I thought, to not be afraid of clicking and checking things out. So now I am petrified when my mentor told me to create something especially a blog.

Starting Fresh

Here I am a year later and I am so excited. I have been writing blogs for a little while now. Feeling comfortable however not moving to one side or the other too far.

I am in an awesome Mentor group and learning how my website was made. Since my website is the home of my blog, I need to learn this. Right now I am having so much fun learning how the original was created.

What is happening is my site is becoming my site. When the community people built my website they made it all about them since I was an affiliate for them.

Yes the site is mine and now it really is becoming MINE!! Oh, and Thrive Theme is fun. It really helps when you understand what makes things work.

My website, https://debandrews.org, is getting a facelift and everything about it is becoming me. My blog will be living in a beautiful complete home soon.

To Your Success,

Deb

Being a Blogger I've toyed with having a website as I've thought of starting a new business but now that I've thinking of selling my blog I don't know what I want to do. Until I decide it's all up in the air. But I've glad you've shared this info which I will share with my friends.

Glenda, what better way of building your business than with a blog. Since you’ve been blogging where is your blog? A website gives your blog a home and no one can take it away. Just my 2 cents. Thank you for commenting.
