When I decided to take my home based business online, little did I know what was ahead for me. Learning technology, there was excitement, frustration, overwhelm and yes tears.
WOW! How far I’ve come in a little over 2 years
It started with talking with a friend
We both were in the same network marketing company. She was doing well by taking her business online.
After listening to what she had to say, I took the “leap”.
I was first introduced to some awesome mentors and a program. We jumped right in. With the technology learning, it seemed like a sub zero level where I started. You see, I didn’t know technology terminology really. So that was my first hurdle.
It was exciting. I have always loved learning. It was like, ” WOOHOO, look at me!”
I learned how to kind of maneuver around my computer. What I mean by kind of, there is so much to learn.
Frustration was soon to follow
The excitement soon went into frustration. ” Why can’t I remember how to do this?” was one of my thoughts. After all, I learned how to become a registered nurse and all the medical stuff!
But as I worked through the program, my mentors were right there with me and for me. They were calm and very positive telling me how fast I was learning. Really, were they looking at the same person I was!?
OK, so I would work through the frustration at the time. I can do this, I thought. I am doing this!
A Facebook Business Page
Getting a Facebook business page was quite the accomplishment. I did it by myself following instructions from my company. All right, I’m in business now. Then I found out my company’s instructions were for a ” Group Page”. Much different than a business page.
More frustration as I tried to get this page re-categorized as a Business page. Trying to figure it out with Facebook instructions was a feat. It got done with the help from the Facebook people.
Then it was learning how to do posts. I WHAT! have to post 2-3 times a day. They said people had to learn who I was in order for them to Know, Like and Trust me. But I have a life and can’t be stopping to do a post 2-3 times per day. But in order to be successful with my business online, I had to do this. People weren’t going to Know, Like and Trust me just because I asked them. This is where I learned automation. LIFE SAVER!
I needed to give people value. What the heck does that mean? Where do I find this? How do I find content to post about? So, many questions. And this is Social Media for business.
Thank Goodness for Mentors
Remember my mentors and the program, I was learning? Well, this also brought an amazing group of people into my life. They all were right there to answer my questions. I just needed to ask.
The technology was going deeper and if there was not frustration, there definitely was overwhelm.
With the overwhelm came self doubt. Can I really do this? I don’t think I’m smart enough!
Sometimes, the overwhelm was so great, all I could do was cry. You know a good cry really can clear the eyes so they can see better.
No, I didn’t know technology really when I started. But I didn’t know nursing either.
Still Learning
So here I am today, still learning, still excited, frustrations aren’t nearly as bad. I’ve learned how not to get overwhelmed and the tears don’t come anymore. That doesn’t mean I don’t have self doubt but my WILL to learn and be good at it seems to step right up and turn that corner for me.
I have had awesome people leading at first. Then guiding me by my side. And now answering questions when I need.
As you can see, I even have learned, am learning how to write blogs.
I am so thankful for my friend that lead me to my mentors and the program , and all my friends who are still there if I need. I am truly blessed. And I’m still learning because now I have my own website.
Most days I truly enjoy sitting at my computer creating for YOU, who might just be in the boat that I was in.
I continue to learn technology as it changes it seems daily. But this is a small part of the puzzle than the day I brought my home based business online.
I encourage you, if any of my story sounds familiar and you are struggling still, let’s connect. You can send me a message on messenger.
To Your Success,
