How To Bring Your Business To Social Media

When starting an online network marketing business or bringing your homebased business to social media, you will need people, mentors, to help guide you. This is what mentors have done for me. I didn’t have a clue about social media and how to bring my network marketing business online.

But this is what I learned.

I have been in a network marketing company for over 10 years.

I learned the “old school” way back then.

Coming from a nursing background, this was all new.

But being a nurse, I thought I could “figure it out”!

After all, I, at that time, had been a nurse for a long time.

But I was not a nutritionist even though I taught my patients healthy eating.

So, how hard could it be to educate people about this nutritional supplement?

It took about 6 weeks before I admitted, “I don’t know how to educate people on this.”

Let alone do a business.

I reached out to my upline. Who, by the way, kept reaching out to me to help.

I would tell her, I’m ok. My reasoning was, I didn’t want to bother her. She is a busy woman.

Then it dawned on me, this is what she is suppose to do. Help her downline learn and become

successful.

OLD SCHOOL

The old school way worked pretty well for years.

Then it got harder and harder to get people to come to a home party, a hotel meeting, and even get on the phone.

I was really getting discouraged. But no one seemed to have an answer why it wasn’t working for me.

I was still reaching out, talking to everyone, doing my follow up.

Just keep at it were the comments.

AN ANSWER

Then my company had their annual conference.

I had my ticket because I never missed a conference.

I had a roommate but one more would help with cost.

My upline had someone who was looking for a room and she set us up. I was looking for a roommate and now she is my friend.

I knew she had taken her network marketing business to social media.

When we met, I told her I wanted to talk with her about it.

Well, as conferences go, we were very busy.

Basically, we only saw each other when it was time to go to bed.

But on Saturday afternoon, there was some down time.

She and I were in our room. We talked about different things.

Doing business online never came up.

She had her computer up and was looking at it while we talked.

At one point she stated, “I have a lead.”

I just looked at her but asked nothing.

As we were leaving after the conference ended, I commented that we never got a chance to talk about doing this network marketing business on social media.

I told her I would reach out to her when we got home.

LEARNING A NEW WAY

Well, that day was about 4 months later. I was busy still struggling with my business.

On that particular day, I had gotten so frustrated I sent her a text, can you talk?

We talked for quite a while. She told me how she went about finding a that taught social media

That met her expectations.

She sent me a link to a boot camp.

I watched 8 of the 10 days videos and knew this was where I needed to take my network marketing business.

Even though I didn’t really know a lot of technology, I knew I had to take this leap.

That was 2 ½ years ago.

HAVING A MENTOR

I didn’t wait 6 weeks to start tapping the mentors available to me. I had learned my lesson.

And besides, I really knew nothing about the computer, all the technology and social media!

Well, there were days that I felt like I was really getting it.

And there were days I felt like I had taken at least 10 steps back.

My mentors stuck with me and continued to encourage, guide and applaud me.

Then the day came when I got a lead and then more.

Not only was this worth the time of learning a whole new skill and mindset.

But I learned so much more than just bringing my network marketing business to social media.

LEARNING TO STAND ON MY OWN

When I would be working on something on the computer and hit a glitch.

Most of the time, I could figure out what I needed to do.

And if I couldn’t, I knew where to get help.

Maybe it was a mentor, Google or You Tube.

Yes, that’s right. I learned how to be self sufficient through all my learning.

I actually am helping others if they are stuck.

Or maybe starting where I started with very little technology.

So, you need mentors to help guide and teach.

I had this in school for 12 years.

Then nurse’s training and becoming a network marketer and a network marketer on social media.

I have had so many mentors my whole life. I will continue having mentors.

Because we never know it all.

MY OWN WEBSITE

I have my own website. Someone else built it.

Boy was I thankful for that.

They built it but did not teach me anything about it!

I can tell you I have learned to fix a few things on this website.

Some of the things: making my site secure, adding blogs, verifying that Google will find me.

And even taking my network marketing business to other platforms.

That is such an awesome feeling. It is a real confidence builder.

I want to continue to move forward and that means having mentors in my life.

Because I want, I NEED to continue growing in knowledge.

A mentor said to me, “you don’t know what you don’t know.”

My mentors will help me learn what I don’t know.

All of this came from a boot camp video. It was a 10 day boot camp for 15 minutes a day.

Yes, I am thankful for having that roommate that has become a friend.

And now I have so many more friends because of a conference and meeting a mentor.
